The Core Principle

There is no teacher. There is no guide. You might find yourself in the rhythm of small-town life, in the stillness of your own company, learning what it means to be truly self-directed. Everything here is voluntary. Nothing is forced.

A Sample Day

AM
6:00 - 7:00 AM
Early Morning

You might find yourself rising early. Perhaps you'll make coffee. Perhaps you'll step outside into the quiet. Some choose to learn baking, others tend to light morning activities. All done autonomously, self-initiated. Or you might sleep until noon. The choice is yours.

There is no schedule. There is only what calls to you.

AM
7:00 - 8:30 AM
Breakfast

We serve nothing. Everything is self-service. You might communicate with the 2-4 other house members to coordinate, but we're more ad-hoc and agile in approach. Whoever is in the mood steps up and facilitates. Sometimes someone makes pancakes for everyone. Sometimes everyone fends for themselves. Life is a rhythm, not a rigid schedule. You learn that here. You practice that now.

Clean as you go. Respect the space. That's all.

AM
8:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Work Block

We don't schedule things. You might attend scrum meetings online if you choose. You might use Focus Tracker with online staff around the world if you need structure or are part of a team. Students and residents may request access to the digital platform for more focus, but it has a cost. Or you might work in complete silence, alone. The choice is yours.

What you do with your time is your business. We provide possibilities, not prescriptions.

PM
12:00 - 1:00 PM
Midday Break

You might find yourself hungry. Each property is unique - some have gardens where you might sit, some have forests to wander, some have small patios for quiet reflection. You might eat with others. You might eat alone. There is no one picture of what this looks like. There is only what feels right to you in this moment.

PM
1:00 - 5:00 PM
Afternoon Block

This is when participants strengthen some aspect of their SILK YACHT. We encourage you to focus on your weakest link, not the areas you've already mastered. Growth happens at the edges of comfort. You might practice yoga if you've never stretched. You might learn to cook if you've only ever ordered takeout. You might build something if you've only ever typed. Or you might do nothing at all. That's also a choice.

Independence is learned by being independent. No one will tell you what to do.

PM
5:00 - 7:00 PM
Evening Transition

Some properties have dance spaces. Some have yoga rooms. Some have small gyms. You might find yourself moving your body before the sun sets. You might go for a walk through small-town streets where everyone waves. You might stay active until sundown, then wind down naturally. Or you might read a book in your room. Both are equally valid.

Your body knows what it needs. Listen to it.

PM
7:00 - 8:30 PM
Dinner

We serve nothing. No set schedules, no promises of crew-cooked meals. Everything is self-serve and voluntary. The same ad-hoc rhythm as breakfast applies here. Sometimes someone feels inspired to cook for the house. Sometimes everyone makes their own food. Sometimes people order takeout. Life is a rhythm, not a rigid schedule.

Clean your dishes. That's the only rule.

PM
8:30 - 9:00 PM
Wind Down

The house begins to settle. You might find yourself naturally quieting. Perhaps you'll read. Perhaps you'll stretch. Perhaps you'll sit on the porch and watch the last light fade. The day winds down the way days have wound down for centuries - gradually, peacefully, without fanfare.

Night
9:00 PM onwards
Quiet Hours Begin

The house settles into silence. This is the peace you came here for. The stillness of small-town nights, where the loudest sound might be crickets or distant trains. You might find yourself sleeping better than you have in years. Or you might lie awake, learning to be comfortable with your own thoughts. Both are part of the journey.

Quiet hours are 9 PM - 8 AM. This is one of the few non-negotiables.

Weekly Rhythm

What Might Emerge
  • Shared meals - when someone feels inspired to cook for the house
  • Quiet mornings - when everyone is doing their own thing
  • Evening walks - solo or together, depending on the mood
  • Garden moments - tending to plants when the spirit moves you
What We Don't Do
  • No scheduled meetings - unless truly necessary for logistics
  • No rotation charts - people step up when they see a need
  • No social expectations - be as social or solitary as you need
  • No prescribed activities - find your own rhythm within the peace
